  • Genetically Modified Organism (GMO)

A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These modifications are achieved through the introduction of recombinant DNA or other biotechnological methods, such as cell fusion, that do not occur naturally under natural conditions. The purpose of genetic modification is to develop organisms with desirable traits, such as increased resistance to pests or diseases, improved yield, or other beneficial characteristics.
