  • Renewable Raw Materials

Renewable raw materials are plant- or forest-derived products that are not used for human consumption or animal feed, but rather for material or energy applications. They are used, for example, as raw materials for the production of bioplastics, insulation materials, textiles, as well as for the generation of heat and electricity or the production of biofuels. Because they can be naturally regenerated and are often biodegradable, renewable raw materials play an important role in the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly production systems.

  • Root Exudates

Root exudates are water-soluble organic compounds released by plant roots into the soil as products of plant metabolism. The most common exudates include sugars, amino acids, and other organic compounds secreted into the rhizosphere. These compounds promote beneficial interactions with soil microorganisms, facilitating the solubilisation and release of nutrients that can subsequently be absorbed by plants. Root exudates play an important role in soil nutrient cycling and in promoting plant growth.
